"Eastern Guns"
04:32
|
|
||
Awakened by Iraqi jets
There's tears in childrens' eyes
Who can stop this madness now
Before our own demise?
We're running out of time
Have we all lost our minds?
Is there nowhere else for us to go?
Don't know the reason why
Or when they're gonna die
Their lives go on day by day
Shiites in the forefront
Their religion stems their pride
The noble way to heaven
Is sought by suicide
Offshore the speedboats dare
A Tomcat thought in the air
Tragedy was only moments away
Identify, there's no return
Justify by what we've learned
Innocence was thrown into the sea, into the sea
(Chorus)
As the years go by
Eastern Guns won't die
Revolution cries
Eastern Guns alive
(solo)
8-20-88
The guns will fire no more
Ambition towards a new frontier
Regression back to war
Lebanon far and wide
Americans still trapped inside
Yearning for the day they'll all come home
Through the haze I've come to see
Symbols of our countries
Left alone--our flags will burn no more, no more
(Chorus)
As the years go by
Eastern Guns have died
Revolution cries
Eastern Guns have died

You're given a position of control
Millions come to you to save their souls
A hundred counties know and praise your name
Everyone believing just the same
The power you attain won't take you far
As soon as consequence shows who you are
A wagon in the rain will turn to rust
Showered with weakness a man turns to lust
(Chorus)
Walk with me -- Don't fall behind
Breathe honestly -- the blind leading the blind
Give to me -- oh won't you be so kind
Save my life -- the blind leading the blind
With people lost you offer them a plan
Using every speech to reprimand
Who are you to judge a man of sin
When you yourself are hiding it within
Denominations make no sense to me
It's just another name for what we perceive
They all claim "the truth" is in their word
Hypocrisy is all I've ever heard
(Chorus)
It's kind of sad how people cannot see
Manipulation within ministry
Arrogance with fame has shown us all
That no one is too high to take a fall
(Chorus)

"The Writer's Eye"
05:53
|
|
||
He sits and ponders with a pen
His eyes gaze out the window
Scribbled sheets lie at his feet
The teapot starts to whistle
His toes indulge the rug below
His brow shows every line
Fingers run through his graying hair
Wondering what happened to time
Images conjure in his spirit
Some he just can't write
His spectacles are dimmed with a mist
He can't focus on life
Ideals and issues are not in his game
But pure imagination
From the first line we read we have in our head
The feeling that silence is golden
(Chorus)
In the Writer's Eye, there's a side we never see
Reading words of fiction away from reality
In the Writer's mind is a place we'll never know
Blinded by stories to write as they grow old
The pages have become a blur
And I'm running out of time
I've never felt so much despair
And all within my mind
I'm lost within the realms I write
Both my hands are tied
Inspiration hits the floor
A part of me has died
The writer is a child at heart
On life's merry-go-round
With a dash of ink his wooden horse
Gallops from the carousel
To continue his books he reads afar
Looking in the pool of life
As the ripples clear, the water reflects
A boy who's flying his kite
(Chorus)

"Silence is Golden"
04:24
|
|
||
It's a place I know so well
I've been here all my life
Running from the streets I know
To escape my inner flight
Away from the highways
I cut through the bi-ways, I run
In the horizon
A sight mesmerizing, then comes
Not a sound to break the still
Deep inside I hold my breath
Knowing that I must go back
I leave my fears to rest
A world so confusing
With words so abusing, I'm gone
Remember the saying
That those who are praying are one
(Chorus)
Silence is Golden
Silence is Golden
Silence is Golden to see
Silence id Golden, it follows me
Time goes on, the pressure's high
I can feel it draining me
Now I know what I must do
To get me back reality
Reading their faces
I'm trapped into places, I lie
Searching for silence
I turn and I look to the sky
(Chorus)
